This piece was inspired by recent events as a Federal Judge ruled a Texas law banning same-sex marriage as unconstitutional and struck it down. Living in Texas as a working artist, it has been frustrating to watch the state continue to support discriminatory laws again the gay community, minorities and other groups it deems as second-class citizens. I felt the need to paint something showing the progress that is happening in Texas as the State moves from Red to Purple to Blue. (And all the other colors of the rainbow too!)
Originally a Mural artist based in Scotland, Steve moved to the States in 2004 originally to paint a mural for a school, but was soon offered the job of Art Teacher which he accepted. Moving over permanently in 2005, Steve taught for six years before re-starting his mural business, which he now runs with his wife, Mischelle.
